Westin Book Cadillac Hotel

Westin Book Cadillac Hotel

Located on Washington Blvd and Michigan Ave. in downtown Detroit, the Westin Book–Cadillac Hotel will offer luxury rooms and suites, retail, restaurants, and conference space. The Book–Cadillac Hotel closed its doors in 1986, leaving the once thriving corner lifeless for more than 20 years. Committed to making the project a reality, The Ferchill Group worked closely with the City of Detroit and other public and private partners to assemble an unprecedented 22–source, $180 million financing package to transform the iconic Book–Cadillac hotel into an upscale hotel that will help anchor the City's downtown redevelopment strategy.

Across the street from our hotel in Detroit was the old Book Cadillac Hotel. It's abandoned, and has been for many years. The city is gutting it out and cleaning it up to re-open it as a hotel again, which makes me very happy. I kind of formed an attachment to the building. I'm sort of obsessed with abandoned buildings and old architecture.
